This is an online course focused on teaching addition to kindergarten and first grade students. You can view the course by clicking here. This online course incorporates visuals, movement, games, and an assessment. Students are introduced to the concept of addition, given time to practice by playing games, and then students are assessed on the concept of addition. Students can use the online course at home or in the classroom. Another great aspect of this online course is students have the opportunity to spend as much time as they need practicing before they complete the assessment. This helps students who are having a difficult time with the concept.
This video is a project I created to discuss the idea of summer learning loss and how I as a teacher can help reduce the problem. The video discusses helpful solutions to help support students and parents during the summer when their child is not in school. This video can be used as a resource for parents who want to help their child with reading over the summer.
This project focused on teaching Fractions to first graders. When completing this project I learned how to use the program of PowerPoint in a different way. The PowerPoint teaches an introductory lesson on fractions. Students interact with the lesson by answering questions and move to the next slide. If the students answered a question incorrect it took the student back to the page to review the information and then try again. Using PowerPoint is this way allows students to move at their own pace and also creates an opportunity to go back and review the information if they are not understanding it. The lesson kept the students enraged because they were interacting with the knowledge and technology.
